(Newser) – A Texas police sergeant has filed a federal lawsuit against the leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement and President Obama, among others, for "igniting a race war." The Dallas Morning News reports Sgt. Demetrick Pennie, a 17-year veteran of law enforcement and president of the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation, filed the lawsuit Friday seeking more than $500 million in damages. In addition to Black Lives Matter and the president, the lawsuit names Hillary Clinton, George Soros, Rev. Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers Party, and more. The lawsuit claims they "have repeatedly incited their supporters and others to engage in threats of and attacks to cause serious bodily injury or death upon police officers."

In a press release that makes mention of Colin Kaepernick refusing to stand for the "Pledge of Allegiance," Pennie's lawyer, Larry Klayman, accuses the named parties of "igniting a race war that will ultimately totally destroy the freedoms that our Founding Fathers bequeathed to us." He hopes the lawsuit will teach the country a lesson that law enforcement must be respected. "Sgt. Pennie and I feel duty-bound to put ourselves forward to seek an end to the incitement of violence against law enforcement," Klayman says in the press release.

(Newser) – Belgium has euthanized a child since becoming the first country to eliminate age restrictions for euthanasia two years ago, CNN reports. According to the BBC, the 17-year-old was in "unbearable physical pain" and was euthanized in the past week. The teen had an incurable disease and requested euthanasia. No other information was provided. The teen's death was announced Saturday, Reuters reports.

Belgium legalized euthanasia for people with "constant and unbearable physical or mental suffering that cannot be alleviated" in 2002. It expanded its euthanasia law to cover all children under the age of 18 in 2014. In order to be euthanized, children must be able to understand what it means and get consent from their parent or guardian and "death must be expected in the near future." Belgium is the only country in the world that allows euthanasia without age restriction. The Netherlands allows it for children older than 12.

(NEWSER)  A newly discovered punctuation error regarding a piece of evidence may help British police zero in on accomplices in a notorious murder now 23 years old. The case is that of Stephen Lawrence, a black teenager beaten to death in 1993 as he stood at a bus stop. Two white men are serving time for the murder, but police think three or four others took part in the attack. Now the leather strap of a bag found at the scene has provided a DNA sample from a woman, and if police can track her down, it could lead to more arrests, reports the Telegraph. Authorities think the strap was part of a homemade weapon used to kill Lawrence—perhaps with the head of a hammer attached—but it was disregarded for years after being mistakenly cataloged as having been found 300 feet from the body.

For centuries, people from tropical regions have known about the amazing health benefits of tender coconut water, which comes from young green coconuts. Each nut contains about 200 to 1,000 milliliters (approximately 1 to 4 cups) of coconut water.

It is a delicious and refreshing low-calorie natural beverage. Tender coconut water contains more nutrients than mature coconut water.

It’s packed with antioxidants, amino acids, enzymes, B-complex vitamins, vitamin C and minerals like iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese and zinc.

The micronutrients in coconut water help boost the immune system. Plus, the plant hormones called cytokinins in this health drink exhibit anti-aging, antithrombotic and anticancer effects.

To reap the maximum health benefits, opt for fresh and pure coconut water over the bottled version. You can drink a few cups of coconut water a day or add it to your smoothie recipes.

Here are the top 10 health benefits of coconut water.

1. Rehydrates the Body

Coconut water is an excellent thirst quencher to beat tropical summer thirst. Because of its electrolyte composition, coconut water is also used to rehydrate the body in case of dehydration and fluid loss due to diarrhea, vomiting or excessive sweating. A good source of carbohydrates, it also helps lift your energy level.

Research suggests that coconut water can be used to rehydrate the body after exercise. In fact, a 2012 study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that coconut water has a similar positive effect as sports drinks.

In addition to boosting rehydration, coconut water is also easy on the stomach and thus is used to soothe tummy troubles like indigestion, acid reflux and gastroenteritis.

2. Lowers Blood Pressure

Coconut water is considered good for controlling high blood pressure, thanks to its vitamin C, potassium and magnesium content. Potassium, in particular, helps lower blood pressure by balancing out the negative effects of sodium.

A study published in the West Indian Medical Journal in 2005 also found that coconut water helps control hypertension.

To help reduce high blood pressure, drink a cup of fresh coconut water twice a day. Bottled coconut water, however, may not be very beneficial as may be high in sodium.

3. Heart Tonic

Cholesterol- and fat-free tender coconut water offers cardioprotective benefits. It helps lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL or the ‘bad’ cholesterol) and increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL or the ‘good’ cholesterol) levels, thus reducing the risk of heart disease.

Why absence really does make the heart grow fonder. Yeah, you would probably rather live in the same city as your man, but there are some real upsides to sleeping in different locations. Like …

  1. The anticipation. You know how great you feel right before you get a birthday surprise? That’s how it feels every time you prep to see him.
  2. Being forced to plan. Living apart in a serious relationship forces you to figure out your end goal. From when you will get yourselves in the same city to a wedding date, you’ll probably move a bit more quickly to figure out your future together than you would if you weren’t in a long-distance situation.
  3. Confronting your insecurities. There is nothing like being far apart to bring up all your insecurities—and help you knock them down. If you can trust him hundreds of miles a way, you’ll have no problem giving him the benefit of the doubt when he’s nearby.
  4. Really getting to know each otherCommunicating long distance is made for digging into what makes him tick. Marathon phone and FaceTime sessions lend themselves to epiphanies and revelations that don’t typically pop up while sitting in a movie theater.
  5. Moving beyond the physical. When you can go weeks and months apart without having intimate contact, you learn about—and develop—all the other things that tie you together.
  6. You have more you time. Boo lovin’ is great, but between spending time with him and making time for your family and your girls, it can be hard to find time for yourself. Living apart makes it a little easier to free up time for self-care.
  7. You appreciate each other more. When you don’t get to see each other very often, every moment counts. You’ll be grateful for those moments and make the most of them.
  8. The sex is better. Every time you two have the opportunity to have actual sex in real life, it will be amazing.

Marion Christopher Barry, son of the late D.C. mayor Marion Barry and a former candidate for the Ward 8 council seat, died early Sunday, friends and authorities said. He was 36.

The younger Barry suffered an apparent drug overdose, those close to him said, although no official cause of death was confirmed Sunday. A D.C. police incident report said that just after midnight, Barry stepped outside of a residence on Pomeroy Road SE and smoked K-2 — a type of synthetic marijuana — and PCP, a hallucinogen he had struggled with in the past.

“Upon returning,” the report said, Barry acted erratically, “and then he suddenly ‘dropped. "

Barry was found by his girlfriend. He was taken to George Washington University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:11 a.m.

The younger Barry had struggled with drug use, friends said. He ran unsuccessfully for the Ward 8 council seat last year after his father died.

In a statement, Cora Masters Barry, Christopher’s stepmother and the widow of Marion Barry, said she was devastated by the younger Barry’s death.

“My heart is broken,” she said. “I am in shock. The news of his death is beyond comprehension.”

Barry is survived by his grandmother Polly Lee Harris.

Watch out for gangbanging toddlers.

scathing audit of California's gang database, CalGang, found that 42 individuals were entered into the crime-fighting system before they turned 1.

The bizarre audit also found that 28 of those infants were entered for "admitting to being gang members." A baby typically utters its first words at around nine months of age.

San Diego Assemblywoman Shirley Weber, who requested the audit, said the database has been hampered by some serious issues for years.
