The giant robot, designed by the Seoul-based company Korea Future Technology, can walk on its two metal feet and move its arms and fingers in synch with the human pilot's gestures.

The creators claim it's the world's first manned bipedal robot.

(Atlanta Black Star) Hundreds of people marched along Chicago’s Michigan Avenue Saturday, Dec. 31, bearing crosses with the names of the nearly 800 victims lost to the city’s gun violence in 2016, CBS Chicago reported. Street violence skyrocketed in the Windy City last year, and now city locals have vowed to do all they can to combat said violence in 2017.

“The last day of the year, we will remember all of who’ve been shot and killed in 2016 [and prior],” said Rev. Michael Pfleger, who helped organize Saturday’s memorial. “We want to break the cycle of violence for 2017!”

NEWSER - Bill Cosby walked into his latest court hearing Tuesday with a joke: "Don't tase me, bro," he said to security officers as he entered the courtroom in suburban Philadelphia and they wanded him, the AP reports. (In case you've forgotten, that's a reference to a quote that went viral in 2007.) Once inside, the hearing was opened with a "shouting match," per NBC News. The judge had to tell the prosecution and the defense to keep their voices down; the two sides were arguing over whether the defense could introduce exhibits containing the names 13 women, two of whom have not identified themselves publicly, who accuse Cosby of sexual abuse. READ MORE
NEWSER - Dylann Roof was convicted Thursday in the chilling attack on nine black church members who were shot to death last year during a Bible study, affirming the prosecution's portrayal of a young white man who hoped the slayings would start a race war or bring back segregation. Instead, the single biggest change to emerge from the June 17, 2015, slayings that shocked the nation was the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Statehouse, where it had flown for 50 years over the Capitol or on the grounds. Roof appeared with the flag in several photos in a racist manifesto. In his confession to the FBI, the gunman said he carried out the killings after researching "black on white crime" on the internet. He said he chose a church because that setting posed little danger to him. As the verdict was read, Roof just stared ahead, much as he did the entire trial. Family members of victims held hands and squeezed one another's arms. One woman nodded her head every time the clerk said "guilty." In all, Roof was convicted of 33 counts, the AP reports. READ MORE

BlackGenocide.org - Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion

On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

This incidence of abortion has resulted in a tremendous loss of life. It has been estimated that since 1973 Black women have had about 16 million abortions. Michael Novak had calculated "Since the number of current living Blacks (in the U.S.) is 36 million, the missing 16 million represents an enormous loss, for without abortion, America's Black community would now number 52 million persons. It would be 36 percent larger than it is. Abortion has swept through the Black community like a scythe, cutting down every fourth member."

A highly significant 1993 Howard University study showed that African American women over age 50 were 4.7 times more likely to get breast cancer if they had had any abortions compared to women who had not had any abortions. LEARN MORE
